As I have shared in the past, this last 1.5 years of being out in Oakland and endeavoring to plant the gospel has been everything but easy. Did good happen? Sure! A lot of good, a lot of seeds planted and relationships built. But the greatest good wasn't what we did to others in Oakland - it was what God did in us! God took the messes we found ourselves in and brought beauty out of it. Why? Because God is all about His Glory and our good - and nothing will ever stop His purposes from being accomplished!
We aren't currently planting the way we thought we would plant. Yet, the work of spreading the Gospel and making disciples still is continuing. As many of you know, our family (The Stites) have joined the community at theMovement Church (3 year old church plant in Oakland) and will be serving their, eventually overseeing discipleship and care in groups! It is still our heart and desire to one day plant the Gospel in Oakland through a local church - when that will be is not up to us. For now, we believe we are right where God has us - and we are loving Him for it!
This past week I had the opportunity to preach on this last season in my life and the outrageous hope of the Gospel in the midst of hard seasons. Watch below and be encouraged!
